Best Fantasy Book for March 2015

March 2015 has very few top-tier offerings in Fantasy Fiction, but we’re okay with that because the one book we are getting promises to be absolutely amazing:

The Skull Throne (Demon Cycle #4)

Author: Peter V. Brett

Release Date: 3/24/2015

Cover - The Skull Throne - LargeThe Warded Man (Demon Cycle #1) is a classic coming of age tale centered around 11-year old Arlen, in a world plagued by a deadly demon infestation that comes every evening from sundown to sunset, forcing humans to cower at night behind their protective “wards”.  The readers follow Arlen on his journey into adulthood and along his quest to end the demon plague forever.

What make the series truly amazing are the changing perspectives brought by each subsequent book as new POV’s are introduced.  Both The Desert Spear (Book #2) and The Daylight War (Book #3) have provided two main storylines: the advancement of the current, main plot, and the coming of age story of a different primary character to which we were originally introduced as an adult in The Warded Man.  These new POV’s add a wealth of complexity to the inter-character dynamics, allowing the reader to see familiar scenes played out from another character’s perspective and frequently giving a totally different understanding of the situation.

All this plus a fascinating magic system and amazing demon battles make The Demon Cycle is a must-read!
